JOB PURPOSE:
Installs and repairs locking devices in campus facilities.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Installs new locking devices.
Disassembles mechanical or electrical locking devices and repairs or replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts, using hand tools.
Makes keys. Re-keys building/facilities locks.
Installs and repairs door closers. Installs and repairs panic bars.
Performs other general building maintenance as assigned.
Drives vehicles as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
Ability to operate a computer and knowledge of lock programs (MMS, BEST).
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience: Two years experience as a Locksmith
Required Certifications/Licenses: Completion of DOL certified apprenticeship; valid driver’s license
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Standing, walking, driving, climbing/ladders, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs multiple times per shift, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Most time spent indoors but possible exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures for one hour plus when working outdoors.
