JOB PURPOSE:
Cleans and maintains buildings. Uses Tennant 265 Floor Machine to clean floors in University buildings.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cleans building floors, ramps, and stairs by sweeping, wet mopping/dust mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
Mixes water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
Steam-cleans or shampoos carpets.
Changes attachments between scrubber and sweeper depending on the floor material needed cleaning.
Cleans dust filters, brushes, and other areas of the Tennant machine before use.
Identifies and reports needed repairs.Performs other tasks as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of general cleaning procedures and equipment.
Ability to operate and use standard cleaning equipment and materials.
Ability to perform work that requires medium to heavy physical effort.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools used to perform job duties.
Ability to operate the specific tools used in the area of expertise, including related tools and equipment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Some high school
Experience: Previous related experience preferred, but not required.
Required Certifications/Licenses:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting, standing, walking, driving, climbing/ladders, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs multiple times per shift, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Spends most time indoors, possible exposure to extreme hot or cold for one hour plus. Risk of bodily injury from mechanical parts, electricity, etc. Possible exposure to fumes, odors, etc. that may affect respiration and skin.
