Service Maintenance Job Specs

JOB TITLE AND GRADE: Painter / SM0S

JOB CODE: 001115

JOB PURPOSE:

Paints interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, and spray guns. May remove old paint to prepare surface prior to painting. May mix colors or oils to obtain desired color or consistency.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Paints walls and trims, and stains furniture using brushes, spray gun, or rollers.
Sands or water blasts surfaces to remove old paint. Cleans off grafitti.

Fills cracks, holes, and joints with caulk putty, plaster, or other filler, using caulking gun or putty knife.

Hangs vinyl.

Drives pickup truck, bucket truck, and gator.

Performs other general building maintenance as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to operate sand blaster, water blaster, spray equipment (airless and conventional), bucket truck, and fork lift.

Ability to use ladders and painting hand tools.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High school diploma or GED

Experience: Two years experience as a Painter

Required Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver’s license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting, standing, walking, driving, climbing/ladders, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs multiple times per shift, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Equal amounts of time spent indoors and outdoors with possible exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures for one hour plus. Possible exposure to distracting/uncomfortable noise levels. Possible exposure to fumes, odors, etc. that may affect respiration and skin.
