JOB TITLE AND GRADE: Senior Crew Lead / SMOQ

JOB PURPOSE:

Responsible for overseeing the smooth, efficient, and correct performance of position duties of a crew of 7+ employees working in a specific area of expertise.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the foreman, coordinates activities of workers. Directs and leads workers and assigns duties. Inspects jobs for use of proper procedures and timely completion.

Recommends selection, promotion, and discharge of employees.

Trains and instructs employees. Interprets and communicates work procedures and company policies to staff.

Estimates, orders material, and schedules jobs with the assistance of the foreman.

Performs duties of the area of expertise. (See job specifications for area(s) of expertise).

Performs duties of the foreman in his/her absence.

Performs other general building maintenance as assigned.

Drives vehicle if needed.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools used to perform job duties.

Ability to operate the specific tools used in the area of expertise, including related tools and equipment.

Ability to operate a personal computer. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and MMS software.

Some knowledge of effective supervisory techniques.

Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High school diploma or GED

Experience: Five years experience in area of expertise, preferably at Indiana University Bloomington

Required Certifications/Licenses: Certification in area of expertise; valid driver’s license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Standing, walking, driving, climbing/ladders, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs multiple times per shift, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Equal amounts of time spent indoors and outdoors with possible exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures for one hour plus. Possible exposure to distracting/uncomfortable noise levels and vibration of body or extremities. Risk of bodily injury from mechanical parts, electricity, etc. Possible exposure to fumes, odors, etc. that may affect respiration and skin.
