Job Purpose
This is technical work performing a variety of non-routine tasks related to the installation and repair of computer and security equipment.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Performs analysis and repair of computers, computer peripherals, computer network problems, and laser printers.
Performs analysis, repair and installation of security system equipment, fiber optic, and telecommunications equipment.
Installs new personal computers, printers, ethernet cards, and software packages; installs upgrades of memory and hard drive systems in personal computers.
Rebuilds fuser assemblies for specific laser printers.
Constructs cables for computers, printers, and ethernet system.
Trains users on new systems and software packages.
Researches new equipment and software.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong knowledge of electronics.
Basic knowledge of a variety of software packages.
Problem solving skills.
Good communication and training skills.
Good organizational skills.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Associates degree in electronics, computer system technology, or closely related field. Directly related work experience may be substituted at a ratio of two years of progressively more responsible experience for each year of education.
Experience: One year computer repair experience.
