Job Purpose
This is technical and administrative work performing tasks related to the provision of technical support for users of department's computer system.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance to users of department's computer system; answers technical questions and solves minor or routine problems regarding use of computer or software; trains users in software applications.
Consults with users to determine any additional hardware or software needs; researches and makes recommendations on potential purchases.
Installs and tests new hardware and software.
Assists in overseeing employees; serves as resource on technical questions.
Produces full and incremental backups of system software and data.
Monitors condition of all computer equipment; contacts appropriate office if equipment problems occur.
Operates computer to perform a variety of tasks in support of department including any or all of the following: desktop publishing, posting accounts receivable, generating reports, or preparing vouchers or other forms.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of computers and a wide variety of software applications.
Problems solving skills.
Good organizational skills.
Good communication and training skills.
Ability to work well with a wide range of people.
Minimum Requirements
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: One year computer related experience.
