Card Access

Guidelines

1. All staff, hourly or FTE, who need regular access to UITS sites are issued a "cardkey".    

2. All cardkeys are of the "passive proximity" type.   The reader identifies the card as one belonging to the system.   

3. Stored on the cardkey database is name, division, building, office number, and access level.

4. If you should encounter a red light at any reader, try the card one more time. If you receive a second red light,  do not try to enter that door as that card is not approved for the door.

Issue of Cardkey

1. FTE staff will be allocated a Cardkey by the Human Resources unit when employee forms are being prepared.    

2. Hourly staff requiring card access will be given a cardkey by Finance Office staff when employee forms are prepared.            

3. Exceptions to the above, please complete the ( Card Request Form )

Replacement of Cardkey

1. If your cardkey becomes lost or fails to work, complete the ( Card Request Form ) and your replacement Cardkey should be available within 24 hrs Monday through Friday.

2. Turn in non-working cards at a front desk. If lost card is found, turn in to the front desk.

Return of Cardkey upon Termination

1. Cardkey is to be collected by the unit manager and  returned to the Facilities unit.
