IU Ameritech Fellows Program Issues Fourth Request For ProposalsProgram to support innovation in teaching and learning with IT enters fourth year at IU BLOOMINGTON, and Indianapolis, IN The Ameritech Fellows Program continues its fourth year of advancing faculty innovation in the application of information technology (IT) for teaching and learning on all IU campuses by issuing its latest request for proposals (RFP) today. Proposals must be received by September 9, 2002, to be considered for the fourth round of funding, as indicated by guidelines available from the program's Web site (amfellow.iu.edu). Awards will be announced on October 18, 2002. IU established the program in the fall of 1999, with a gift of $1,000,000 from Ameritech to support five years of program activity. Since then, three rounds of funding and awards averaging $15,000 have made possible 24 innovative projects on IU campuses, according to Brad Wheeler, Associate Dean for Teaching & Learning Technologies. Wheeler directs the program for the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology and UITS Division for Teaching and Learning Information Technologies. "A critical aspect of the program is building and sustaining a community of faculty innovators across the university," said Wheeler. "The program seeks to engage IU Ameritech Fellows as faculty mentors in coordination with the teaching and learning centers on IU campuses." The second Ameritech Fellows Leadership Forum, to be convened in Bloomington during the summer of 2002, will present an opportunity for Fellows to showcase their work and discuss their progress with one another. "Over time, a program goal is to develop a Web-based repository of effective practices from the experiences of IU's Ameritech Fellows," Wheeler said. The complete RFP, proposal cover sheet, and information about previously funded projects are available at amfellow.iu.edu. Questions should be directed to fellows@iu.edu. |
