Executive Summary
The Indiana University Department of Environmental Health and Safety (DEHS) seeks this opportunity to strengthen its core capacity and promote the education and research missions of the University.
Our project goal is to promote and enhance the safety, well-being, and educational experience of the University community by using advanced information technology to harmonize our operations, and within one year achieve a high potential to effectively partner with external organizations and provide a gateway to over-all University resources.
The challenges that the DEHS will resolve during this project are:
- Fragmentation the need for multi-media interaction that connects all our facilities state-wide
- Structure & Operation the need to improve the delivery of centralized services, and enable each facility to spontaneously access information and expertise
- Public Perception the need to assure the community that the DEHS is using state-of-the-art technological advances to continuously improve its operations and services to protect the well-being of the University community
- University Mission the need to empower each DEHS facility to work in concert and open a gateway for external organizations to access and benefit from the over-all resources of the University.
To solve these issues the DEHS will:
- Establish a Virtual Workspace that links each DEHS office with sister offices
- Establish an equally interactive network that increases interconnectivity
- Expand interaction with our established University audience and enhance quality and service delivery by providing digital video products and services
- Partner with key members of the University community to enhance the quality of outputs and achieve a high potential to form collaborative relationships with external organizations
The DEHS thanks UITS for the opportunity to submit this proposal. We look forward to working with you in this important project. Please contact me at 856-5482 with information regarding your decision.
