School of Music, IUB
The overall purpose of the School of Music Distance Learning Project is to enhance music teaching and learning throughout the world by connecting Indiana University with other great universities and schools of music through the use of the latest developments in information technology. The specific purpose of the present proposal is to seek funds to support a Production Director for the Project.
The first pilot test of this project was held last year, and for this occasion the roles of Production Director were divided among volunteer faculty and staff members from the School of Music, and from the Radio and TV Services, the Department of Telecommunications, University Information Technology Services, and the School of Continuing Studies. The pilot test was highly successful, and the School of Music is enormously grateful to its colleagues in other departments for their support in this endeavor. However, these colleagues will not continue to support the project through volunteer time.
Recently Bill Wang was appointed to joint position of Director of Information Technology and Technical Director of the Distance Learning Project. He will provide expertise and leadership in the purchase, installation, use, maintenance, and upgrading of all technical equipment involved in the Distance Learning Project. However, he cannot provide expertise and leadership in the production side of the Distance Learning Project.
