Usage Policies

The central dialin facilities operated by UITS are a shared, first-come, first-served resource for IU Bloomington faculty, students, and staff. UITS cannot guarantee you access to the network from the shared dialin facilities.

If you live in the residence halls , you can use direct network Ethernet connections.

Be considerate when using dialin services. Log out of your account as soon you're finished using it, and try to restrict non-academic use (such as reading news or personal e-mail) to off-peak hours, when possible. Your cooperation will help ensure that those with important work to do, such as completing assignments, can connect to their accounts.

All UITS policies concerning ethical and legal use of software also apply to your use of dialin services. Your use of a particular piece of software through the dialin services should be consistent with the license agreement for that software.

UITS provides consulting services and information for you in configuring and using a wide variety of equipment, but all hardware and software used for dialin at your end is ultimately your responsibility. UITS cannot be held responsible for failures due to improper setup or use of dialin hardware or software.
