Smithville Telephone

Smithville Service for IU

Smithville Telephone Company and IU have teamed up to provide high-speed remote access service for IUB faculty, staff, and students who reside in the Smithville Telephone service area. This offering is based on Smithville's Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), IU's Virtual Private Network service, and a direct high-speed interconnection between the Smithville Telephone and IUB networks. To take advantage of this, IUB constituents should first contact Smithville Telephone to subscribe to the DSL service, identifying themselves as IU faculty, staff, or student. Next, the IUB customer must add the VPN client to their computer at home; this software will allow the STC-DSL customer to become a "virtual" member of the IUB campus network, utilizing the high speed DSL technology provided by Smithville.
