Greeknet Terms of Use
- Indiana University Acceptable Use Policies, Rights and Responsibilities,
and Security policies will apply to GreekNet (See http://www.itpo.iu.edu
for a complete posting of these policies). Failure to comply with
these policies may result in UITS terminating the network connection.
- Each end-user workstation in the Greek house or IU organization
must be on a dedicated switched Ethernet port to the GreekNet.
- Greek houses or IU organizations must NOT extend the network beyond
their building (all extensions to the network are prohibited including
dial-up access).
- Greek houses or IU organizations must NOT connect the network to
other network providers.
- Greek houses or IU organizations are responsible for their internal-building
network.
- Greek houses or IU organizations are responsible for all related
telecommunications charges, including charges incurred by IU to support
their GreekNet connections. Failure to pay promptly any charges (within
30 days) is cause for termination of service. In the event IU terminates
the GreekNet connection, the Greek house or IU organization will continue
to be responsible for all continuing telecommunications charges directly
related to their connection.
- Greek houses or IU organizations must use network addresses (e.g.
IP addresses, Novell network numbers, etc.) specified by UITS.
- Greek houses and IU organizations must purchase through IU/UITS the UITS specified router
and associated network connection equipment to connect the building
network to the IUB campus network. This router will be owned by the
Greek house and managed by UITS.
- Houses or IU organizations connected to GreekNet must maintain current
contact information, including account numbers for their house with
the IUB Network Operations Center. In the event of network problems,
Network Operations shall make a reasonable effort to contact the house
or IU organization but will not pursue the attempt if contact information
is not current.
- Greek houses or IU none general funded organizations must contract
with Ameritech for their portion of the T1 circuit, and notify UITS
when the circuit is ready, and notify UITS of any subsequent changes
in their contract with Ameritech. IU general funded organizations
must order T1 circuits through UITS. In the event Ameritech terminates
the service, the Greek house or IU organization will continue to be
responsible for all charges incurred by IU to support their GreekNet
connection, until IU has terminated that houses' or organizations'
IU portion of the circuit and
equipment.
