IUPUI Network Information
Founded by Indiana University and Purdue University, IUPUI has become Indiana's most comprehensive urban campus. Located in Indianapolis, IUPUI is the academic home to over 30,000 students and over 2,200 full, or part-time, faculty. In addition, IUPUI is one of Indianas top employers.
The IU Network Services Group designs and implements network technological infrastructure designed to facilitate local and remote electronic access to IUPUI services. To accommodate this mission, Network Services maintains a core network, modem bank, and Internet connection.
Fall of 2000 marked a milestone for IUPUI as they transitioned from an ATM based network to a robust Gigabit Ethernet backbone. As a result, wireless or directly connected users in 30 buildings across campus now transmit at a significantly higher speed at the core. Each building connection consists of a HP4000 GIG switched connection to the GIG core comprising of 2 Cisco switches and 2 Cisco routers.
Today, IUPUI faculty, staff, and students enjoy over 400 modems connected via 19 Primary Rate Interfaces (PRI). Further serving the IUPUI community, is a 2.5 Gbps commodity Internet connection.
