MDF: Phone Room, Whitewater Hall
IDF's: 2 in Whitewater Hall. One on first floor and one on second
Manholes and Conduit:
1. A central manhole serves Hayes, Middlefork, and Springwood Halls.
2. Conduits are utilized between Whitewater Hall and the central manhole.
Conduits connect the manhole to Hayes, Middlefork, and Springwood Halls
3. Interliners are used for fiber and coax.
Cable Racks
1. Cable racks are utilized in all buildings. These are provided for each
floor of the building.
2. Copper, coaxial, and fiber cables utilize the cable racks.
Interbuilding and Riser Cables
1. All interbuilding copper cables hub at the MDF located in the telephone
switch room in Whitewater Hall.
2. Copper riser cables are provided from the building equipment room to the
individual floor equipment rooms in all three buildings.
3. Interbuilding and riser copper cables are used for telephone services.
Fiber Optic Cabling
1. The fiber optic hub for this campus is located in Hayes Hall with the computer
services equipment.
2. The fiber cabling utilizes a star topology from the hub with individual
cables serving each building on the campus. Each fiber cable consists of 8
multimode and 4 single mode fibers.
3. Fiber riser cables consisting of 8 multimode and 4 single mode fibers are
installed between the building equipment rooms and the individual floor equipment
rooms.
4. Fiber is provided to the desktop in Hayes Hall.
Coaxial Cables
Interbuilding coaxial cables have the hub in the boiler room located in Whitewater
Hall. Utilizing a star topology, 500 type coaxial trunk cables connect each
building with the hub.
Station Cabling
1. There are several station cabling applications used on the Richmond campus:
Whitewater Hall
A. Administrative wing consists of Cat 5e cabling (Belden Media Twist for
data and DataTwist for voice), Krone HighBand Jacks, and Krone Ultimate termination
blocks in the communication closets.
B. The rest of the building aside from a few select stations is Cat 5e cabling
on RJ45 jacks and terminated into 110 and a few 66 terminating blocks.
Middlefork Hall
A. Stations consist of Cat 5e cabling (Belden Media Twist for data and DataTwist for voice), Krone HighBand Jacks, and Krone Ultimate termination blocks in the communication closets.
Hayes Hall
A. Most of the offices have a fiber run to them. The fiber sheath contains
2 multimode and one single mode fiber.
B. All of the rooms also have Cat5e cabling punched down to Krone jacks and
terminated using Krone Ultimate termination blocks.
Springwood Hall
A. Stations consist of Cat5E cabling on Ortronics Giga+ jacks and 110 termination blocks in the closets.
Danielson Center (New Castle)
A. Stations consist of Cat 5 cabling on RJ45 jacks that terminate into 110 blocks.
Connersville Center
A. Stations consist of mainly Cat 5 and some Cat5e cabling on RJ45 jacks
that terminate on a mix of 66 and 110 termination blocks.
