Analyst Programmer - PA2IT

Description and Responsibilities:

The Global Research Network Operations Center at Indiana University (http://globalnoc.iu.edu/) provides network engineering and operations services for a number of networks deployed across the United States at the national, regional, metro, and campus levels (including the Internet2, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Indiana Gigapop, and the Indiana University network). Under moderate supervision, assist with the design, development and support of network monitoring, management, and measurement software. Supports the Global NOC.s 24x7x365 production software systems through a Round Robin rotation and after-hours On-Call rotation. Participates in the evaluation of emerging technologies.

Qualifications:
BS degree in Computer Science or other related technology area. Combination of related Education and Experience will be considered. No experience required, 1 yr in the development of complex software systems preferred.

Experience with the following is desired: Perl, computer networks (local and wide area), relational databases, web services, Unix system administration. Experience with some of the following technologies is highly desirable: MySQL, Linux, SNMP, XML, Nagios, RRDtool. Practical experience developing or supporting systems developed and deployed in a Linux environment preferred. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills are also required.
