Programmer Analyst - PA2IT
Description and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the design, development, and deliverables surrounding enterprise software applications; collaborates with partners from various teams at Indiana University, as well as with partners from other institutions, on next generation community source projects including Kuali; and works directly with faculty, staff, and students to understand their needs. Applies user-centered design methodologies and agile development processes to generate interfaces from low- and high-fidelity prototypes to production-worthy, front-end web markup and code; works alongside the lead interaction designer, as well as other designers, software engineers, researchers, subject-matter experts, and quality assurance staff; and within this context, demonstrates initiative, creativity, and innovation in the development of stable, maintainable, and efficient business computing solutions.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in graphic design, human centered interface design, or related field and up to one year of experience designing and creating interfaces for complex
systems/sites with large, diverse audience base.
Combinations of related education and experience will be considered.
Strong understanding of interface design and visual design principles as they pertain to web-based applications, sites, and systems; experience with HTML (including HTML5), CSS (including CSS3), JavaScript, and visual design software (e.g. The Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, etc.), Visio, OmniGraffle, etc.); and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
Understanding of the major browsers (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.); ability to create sites/systems to work with varying browser capabilities; and demonstrated competence with both PC and Macintosh platforms. Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to speak to small groups; and knowledge of and experience with good user-centered design methods.
Preferred: Experience with usability evaluations.
