Associate Director, Systems and Networking - PA4IT
Description and Responsibilities:
University Information Technology Services at IU Kokomo (UITS-KO) seeks an Associate Director of IT Systems and Networking. Located in North Central Indiana, the Kokomo campus of Indiana University serves an area including Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Fulton, Grant, Howard, Miami, Tipton and Wabash and White counties. IU Kokomo is one of eight campuses of Indiana University; is a non-residential campus of more than 3,700 students enrolled in more than 70 degree and certificate programs that combine the best and most relevant of the professional and liberal studies disciplines, at the Bachelors and Masters levels.
As a senior member of the UITS-KO Leadership Team, reporting to the Executive Director and guided by the UITS strategic plan Empowering People as well as the IU Kokomo campus strategic plans, the Associate Director provides campus-wide technical and operational leadership in the areas of IT systems administration, networking, and telecommunications. This includes long range planning for the design of IT systems and networks as well as management and monitoring. The Associate Director has primary responsibility for assuring that telecommunications services, network infrastructure, workstations and servers are stable, highly available, scalable, tuned, reliable, and secure. Interacts with faculty and staff to perform business analysis and recommend appropriate technology solutions. The Associate Director is a strategic IU Kokomo technical and operational representative and actively participates in projects and maintains relationships with other IU campuses and higher education institutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a similar degree from an accredited institution is required. Four years progressive professional experience in
workstation/server/network administration is required. 2 years recent experience with VoIP telephony solutions is required. Required knowledge, Skills, and abilities include: a
solid understanding of information security; IT systems and the interoperability of systems; knowledge of and implementation experience with PC and server technologies; wired and
wireless network hardware; Demonstrated experience managing IT projects; and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities include experience with server, desktop, and application virtualization, experience with Microsoft System Center configuration Manager product experience in providing IT support in a Higher Education environment.
