Principal Systems Analyst: Citrix Engineer - PA4IT
Description and Responsibilities:
Works independently at the highest level on all phases of Citrix/Microsoft virtualization system administration to provide highly specialized expertise in the evaluation and design of major new technological solution, which includes system and software integration, planning, systems design, development, testing, installation and implementation of virtual applications and desktop operating systems serving the entire university. Provides technical standards, consulting, leadership, guidance and training for a variety of applications to other IT professionals across all campuses. Serves as a senior technical resource in all areas of implementation and support including: hardware configuration and installation, hypervisor OS installation/support, backup infrastructure and data protection, performance monitoring and tuning, capacity planning, storage allocation, workload management, problem determination and resolution. Coordinates projects and participates in planning sessions and ad-hoc committees; assists in the training of support staff and serves as client consultant; and serves as a resource for the staff for information technology and technical expertise. Interfaces with hardware and software vendors to coordinate projects, resolve availability issues, and explore new technologies. A major focus will be on creative solutions to address storage, software, and desktop OS standardization, automation, and virtualization.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in computer science or other related technical field and five years experience in support of Citrix XenDesktop and/or XenApp environments, including hands-on experience architecting/engineering and
supporting implementations of Citrix.
Combinations of related education and experience will be accepted in lieu of experience.
In-depth experience in Citrix and Microsoft application and desktop virtualization technologies, development, and operations; Expert knowledge of Citrix XenApp environments including Web Interface, Netscaler, and XML Brokers; and knowledge of and experience in Microsoft Terminal Services concepts and practices. Knowledge and experience in support of Citrix Access Gateway and Netscaler technology; knowledge and practical experience with project management tools and application development methodologies; and demonstrated oral, written and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to manage and guide a complex range of functions and relationships within teams and departments for the entire university; and capable of working with staff, faculty and university departments.
Preferred: Specific experience in managing application and desktop OS virtualization technologies, X86 hardware, Linux, Windows Server, and enterprise storage resources.
