Position Available: Support Center Consultant
The UITS Support Center is hiring IUPUI students for part time consultant positions. Student consultants are required to work at least 20 hours per week and no more than 36 hours per week. Evening and weekend work is required and we require a commitment to work at least 2 full semesters, not including the summer. The starting wage is $10.00 per hour.
This position serves as a technical advisor/troubleshooter for IT to the faculty, staff, and students of IUPUI. Consultants field telephone calls from clients, determine problem areas and provide solutions to those clients. Consultants also develop technical documentation to be distributed via telephone, e-mail and through a web-based knowledge base to our clients to assist them in solving their own problems. Applicable technological areas include: computing services, telecommunications services, multi-media/audio visual, learning environments services, and general university administration questions. Consultants provide technical assistance to all IU affiliates over multiple services such as phone, email, chat, and walk-in. Duties for all consultants include, but are not limited to, providing technical and troubleshooting support for both Windows and Macintosh desktops, mobile devices, IU central systems, networking, and updating technical articles in the IU Knowledge Base.
A high school diploma or GED is required. Applicants are required to have prior customer services experience, proven technical abilities, excellent written communication skills, and the ability to speak English clearly and well.
