Decision Support Services Analyst - PA3IT

Meets the complex analytical and operational reporting needs of Indiana University administration by designing, developing, and supporting existing decision support systems. Performs administration of software, databases, and services; collaborates in the creation of technical standards and business processes and procedures for other analysts; participates with other Enterprise Decision Support Services Team members for programming design, data modeling, and database design; and provides technical assistance to analyst partners. Documents procedures and standards for efficient development with ETL tools and the enterprise data warehouse and stays abreast of new data modeling methods, design techniques, standards, and methodologies based on industry best practices to ensure delivery of efficient access to information.

The existing decision support environment is comprised of multiple Oracle databases with the largest being nearly 4 TB in size. OLAP cubes are built in Microsoft Analysis Services to deliver consistent and fast data retrieval for use in planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis. To ensure that we continue to meet online hours for refresh of the enterprise data warehouse, it is imperative that significant changes be made to the current environment. As specified in the Empowering People Strategic Plan for IT at Indiana University, remodeling data is a critical initiative toward delivery of a sustainable and reliable decision support environment.

Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in related field and three years of data warehouse systems analysis and programming experience. Relevant professional experience may substitute for specific degree requirement. Excellent technical and communication skills and the ability to apply best practices in the Enterprise Decision Support and Business Intelligence environments. Background must demonstrate ability to operate effectively as a member of a team within a complex, dynamic environment. Proven experience with project management is necessary.

The skill set for this position is continually changing. Current skill set includes: extensive knowledge of SQL, ETL such as Informatica PowerCenter, or Microsoft Integration Services, dimensional modeling, Oracle, shell scripting, and general knowledge of Microsoft BI Suite and reporting tools. Requires working familiarity with Unix. Incumbent must stay abreast of state-of-the-art technologies and possess the ability to learn new technologies whenever appropriate.
