Gerald L. Bepko Student Internship Program
2011-2012
JEDI Intern
(Internship filled)
Project overview:
Create a Web-based Jeopardy game environment for all IU faculty/students. Teaching experience with IU Kelley School of Business has revealed that Jeopardy is a useful tool inside and outside the classroom. A PowerPoint based Jeopardy game has been used to keep students engaged. The biggest dilemma has been keeping the games for various topics/chapters organized. A Web-based solution that relies on a database for storage of questions, answers, and points would simplify the creation and organization of these games.
Description of duties:
Work with a small team of developers to:
- Create the database infrastructure for hosting questions/answers/points.
- Create the author-interface to allow faculty to save questions in a database and specify game parameters.
- Create the user-interface to allow faculty and students to actually play a round of the selected game. Students may do this on their own outside
the class and faculty may want to do this in the classroom.
Qualifications:
Study in the computer science field is desired. Knowledge of database programming and experience with C# and .NET framework is highly preferred. Must be able to work as a participating member of a team, organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, and possess good written and oral communication skills.
