Manager, Advanced IT Core - PAE4IT

Provides in-depth computational biology expertise, strategic thought, and grant and project leadership for the University Information Technology Services (UITS) Advanced IT Core (AITC) at the IU School of Medicine (IUSM). This position will report to the Senior Manager for Life Sciences in Research Technologies, UITS, and work closely with other Research Technologies units, and the Bioinformatics and Biostatistics Cores at the IUSM. Coordinate AITC services, supervise select research and development projects, pursue external funding opportunities, partner with key academic researchers, conduct relevant independent research. Advise on new strategic technologies and facility designs, develop training programs, and represents the University.

Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Biology, Bioinformatics, or Informatics with medical research background. Five- seven years of related work experience, including at least two years of leadership experience overseeing facilities, personnel, and federally-funded research projects required. Expert knowledge of computational biology, particularly genomics, proteomics, research pipelines, data management, and analytical algorithms required. Applicant must be highly familiar with advance computational techniques, instrumentation, current developments in bioinformatics and biomedical informatics, statistics, and computer science. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write grants (particularly NIH and NSF), participate in research collaborations, develop research papers, conduct presentations, and provide bioinformatics training. Ability to foster and maintain collaborations with internal and external academic researchers through a balanced, service-based approach required. Must work well both independently and collaboratively, have excellent analytical skills, and demonstrate enthusiasm for working with new technologies. Must have demonstrated ability and comfort in working in situations high in uncertainty and ambiguity; ability to show excellent judgment maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information; and ability to deliver excellent outcomes under high degrees of pressure and sometimes short timelines. Requires creativity in identifying complex problems and finding solutions quickly and accurately; attention to detail in communicating technical issues and implementing solutions; mental discipline in resolving software problems; ability to change priorities as project expands or project needs change.
