Project Manager, Lifetime Engagement Enterprise Advancement Systems - PA4IT
Description and Responsibilities:
This position is part of the Lifetime Engagement initiative and will focus primarily on the Enterprise Advancement System (EAS) components. As such, the incumbent will assist the technical and functional project directors with project management and will be responsible for project planning, coordination of tasks associated with design, development, and implementation of a new enterprise-wide application that supports the Advancement activities of Indiana University. IU is developing this application in partnership with Campus Management Corp (CMC) which will also require coordination of tasks, deliverables and milestones from our vendor partner's staff as well as from IU's internal staff.
As with any enterprise-wide application, this position will need to be aware and account for requirements and tasks associated with readiness activities across multiple departments and campuses. The EAS manager will work primarily with administrators and business leaders in the IU Foundation and IU Alumni Association domains. Additionally, tight coordination with the Lifetime Engagement/Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) leadership will be essential. In addition to strong project management experience, the incumbent will be expected to have strong, relevant technology skills and will serve as the IT Manager and Sr. Technology lead for the EAS portion of the Lifetime Engagement product set.
The incumbent will manage the activities of systems analysts and programming personnel and coordinate functional business analysts activities that are directly associated with assigned projects. And will oversee staff in day-to-day activities of systems management including planning, evaluation, selection, implementation, maintenance, documentation and management of systems. Plans, organizes, schedules, and controls the work of the section. Receiving policy level direction regarding standards and budgetary constraints, initiates personnel actions on hiring, promotions, and terminations. Also, coordinates the activities of the section with other sections, participates in organization and unit-wide planning initiatives, and the development of overall strategic plans and architectures for information systems. Acts for the Director as required.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED: Baccalaureate degree (Masters degree desirable), plus a minimum of 5 years experience in information technology with at least 3 years in a management or lead analyst role. Demonstrated success in managing and supporting
complex information infrastructure components in support of the delivery of mission critical, enterprise-wide, business applications. Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills required. Strong project
management required. Experience with large system projects in a university environment is preferred but not required.
Position requires experience in creating and supporting applications in a Windows/Unix/Web environment, scripting languages, SQL, and relational database structures. Applicant must have experience in systems development work with a solid concentration in Windows/Unix/Web development. The applicant should have an excellent understanding and experience developing enterprise level applications using a variety of programming languages and frameworks with a preference for .NET (C# or VB.NET), Java, JavaScript/jQuery, C, C++, etc. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or 2008, TSQL syntax, SSIS packages, stored procedures, SQL Server Reporting Services, and modern Web technologies (HTML5/CSS/JavaScript, etc) are essential. Experience with Microsoft SharePoint is highly desirable. The individual must be able to work well with little supervision, and have good communication and analytical skills. A strong customer orientation and enthusiasm for new technologies are also required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Ability to work with a variety of people with varying levels of knowledge required. Familiarity with IU systems and platforms is a plus. Ability to assume project leadership for information system projects and work at the highest level of technical complexity is required. High level of accuracy, dependability and responsibility is essential.
