Network Administrator/Team Lead - PA3IT

Description and Responsibilities:

This position is located at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC) in Columbus, Indiana.

This position oversees the installation, maintenance, repair and inventory of campus computer, data, network, and telecommunications hardware and software and low-voltage cable plant system. Provides substantial support for the campus VoIP telephone system and serves as a backup network administrator.

Some of the key duties and responsibilities are: Install, manage, maintain and repair campus network and telecommunications hardware, software, and wireless and cable plant; Specify equipment for campus wireless and physical data communications network; Resolve hardware, software and network communications, wireless, and cable plant problems; Make recommendations regarding campus network design, implementation and modification; Maintain parts inventory, test equipment, troubleshoot problems, etc.; Maintain and monitor uninterruptable power supplies and room environments; Maintain and manage server software including active directory, exchange, server and hardware.

Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a computer science related field, plus 2 years of computer services related experience. Equivalent training and experience accepted on a 2:1 ratio.

Knowledge of network switches and routers - Fiber optic and copper cable and connections - VoIP software and hardware - Network servers - Network monitoring tools and software - Wireless Access Points (WAPs) - Server hardware, desktop and mobile computers and computing devices.
