Principal Systems Analyst - PAE4IT
Description and Responsibilities:
Responsible for design, development, maintenance, and support of application components for Oncourse, IU.s enterprise-wide implementation of Sakai, a community source project. Serves in role of application architect and works collaboratively with development team and functional business analysts to provide expertise in the evaluation and design of major initiatives. Works with development team and other UITS units to develop, deploy, and support technological solutions, which include system and software integration; application upgrades and releases; systems design; and development, testing, installation, and implementation of computer applications serving the entire university. Contributes to the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of Sakai application components. Provides technical leadership in application administration, hardware capacity planning, and application environment management; maintains production standards. Leads team in efforts to resolve technical issues. Participates in planning sessions and ad-hoc committees; serves as a resource for the staff for information technology and technical expertise. Performs planning, organizing, scheduling, coordination, and implementation at the project level. Attends meetings as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or closely related information technology field and five years computing or information technology experience
required. An equivalent combination of work experience and education may be considered. Must be capable of developing an information systems
strategy, implementing technical training, and maximizing effective technologies. Broad-based information processing experience in all areas of
computing required. Ability to assume project leadership for application architecture initiatives and work at the highest level of technical
complexity required. High level of accuracy, dependability, and responsibility essential. Demonstrated oral, written, and presentation skills with
the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to manage and
guide a complex range of functions and relationships within teams and departments for the entire university required. A customer service attitude,
enthusiasm for working in a team-oriented environment, and an interest in new technologies required. Experience in creating and supporting
applications in a Unix environment, Unix scripting languages, SQL, and relational database structures required. Experience with Java, JSF, JSP,
Servlet, Hibernate, Spring, Web Services, XML, JUnit, JavaScript, Eclipse, Maven, Subversion, Tomcat, MySQL, Oracle, and Linux preferred.
