Principal Systems Analyst, Kuali Foundation - PA4IT
Description and Responsibilities:
Responsible for collaborating, leading, and ensuring successful delivery of critical components of the Kuali Coeus system for the Kuali Foundation. Works with developers from KC partner institutions to deliver the Kuali Coeus open source system; participates in and leads initiatives to analyze functional processes, determine system specifications, design solutions, write programs, and implement critical system applications while maintaining standards; and responsible for the development of the software to meet the evolving demands within the Kuali Coeus program and partner institutions. Acts as a leader and mentor to other developers to resolve technical issues; responsible for suggesting and ensuring established standards are followed; and responsible for ensuring that applications are using the latest versions of the software infrastructure, as well as ensuring the applications take advantage of emerging functionality that increases technical productivity or provides new services. Codes, tests, and documents programs that execute in a variety of technical architectures; owns areas of project plans ensuring implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance support for existing systems; provides training and support to staff; and serves as a resource for problem analysis and resolution. Works independently as a senior member of the Kuali Coeus Development Team and maintains excellent relationships with functional and technical members of the team, through careful consideration and thorough communication on analysis and programming assignments. Shows initiative, creativity, and innovation in the development of stable, maintainable, and efficient business computing solutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, business systems, or related or related field and five years of professional, J2EE development experience.
Expert knowledge of JSP, XML, Spring IOC, AOP common design patterns and a relational DBMS, experience using common open source frameworks for Java development; excellent oral and written communications skills; and ability to operate effectively as a member of a team within a complex, dynamic environment.
Preferred: Sun Java certification. Knowledge of Kuali technologies or systems. Experience with enterprise-scale application development, Struts, ORM, Eclipse, CVS, SVN, Ant, Tomcat/Jetty, JUnit, log4j, Quartz, Linux, Apache, Oracle, and MySQL. Understanding of service-oriented architecture (SOA), test-driven development (TDD), and the Kuali development framework.
