Principal Systems Analyst - PA4IT
Description and Responsibilities:
Participates in and leads initiatives to analyze functional processes, determine specifications, design solutions, write programs, evaluate outcomes, and troubleshoot issues; adheres to existing and establishes new development standards and practices to ensure efficient completion of high-quality code while keeping apprised of emerging functionality that might increase technical productivity or provide new services; and owns areas of the project plan, leading and mentoring other developers, and serving as a resource for problem analysis and resolution. Collaborates effectively with functional customers on specifications and testing; supports other members of the technical team on design, planning, and issue resolution, infrastructure teams on configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting, other application development teams on interfaces and technical staff at other Kuali Financial System (KFS) partner institutions to enhance the core product to meet the evolving demands of the community; and works independently as a senior member of the Financial Systems Team. Maintains excellent relationships with functional and technical partners through careful consideration and thorough communication on analysis and programming assignments and shows initiative, creativity, and innovation in the development of stable, maintainable, and efficient business computing solutions.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Systems, or related discipline and five years of professional, J2EE development experience.
Expert knowledge of JSP, XML, Spring IOC & AOP, common design patterns, and one or more RDBMS. Experience using common, open source frameworks for Java development; and excellent oral and written communications skills. Initiative and aptitude to learn new technologies; superior troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; and the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a complex, dynamic environment.
Preferred: Enterprise-scale application development, KFS; Kuali Rice; SOA; TDD; J2EE development tools and frameworks including Eclipse, Struts, ORM, Ant, JUnit, log4j, and Quartz; Unix; Apache Tomcat; Oracle; MySQL.
Other: We are seeking a highly motivated individual to play a critical role on the Financial Systems Team as a leader in the implementation of the Kuali Financial System at Indiana University. KFS is a nationally recognized community source application, the first of a growing suite of applications developed for higher education, by higher education under the umbrella of the Kuali Foundation. Over fifty member schools in multiple countries and eight commercial affiliates comprise the Kuali community. IU was a founding partner in the development of the Kuali Financial System. The implementation team is converting decades of data, customizing KFS to meet institution-specific business process requirements, adding modules to replace other in-house developed systems, and making significant contributions to the delivered Kuali Financial System and Kuali Rice.
