Principal Systems Analyst - PAE4IT

Works independently to provide highly specialized expertise and leadership for life sciences database research software applications on a variety of UITS-supported platforms and technologies, including Linux and Windows operating systems; Oracle, MySQL, and DB2 databases; and Java, PHP, and Perl applications. Prepares site-specific documentation for user support, delivers UITS workshops on life sciences database applications, and leads related research activities like grant funding and conference presentations.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in science or related technical discipline. Five years in-depth knowledge of software systems analysis, database design, and programming required. A combination of education and experience may be considered in a 2:1 ratio. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in large scale university computing support. Able to operate effectively in a complex and dynamic environment; capable of functioning as project leader; must have knowledge and practical experience with project management tools and application development methodologies. Must have excellent analytical and communication skills, a strong customer service orientation and enthusiasm for the application of new technologies across a broad range of disciplines. The ability to interact successfully with staff and faculty in extended consultations and to work with people with varying levels of knowledge is essential.

Experience developing applications for Linux and/or *nix required. Experience with multiple relational database management system and multiple programming languages for web-based development required.
