Principal Systems Engineer - PA4IT

Independently provide project leadership and perform highly complex technical tasks to develop, design and deploy high capacity and high performance messaging services at the campus and state scope. Implement, test, document and maintain deployed messaging and telecommunication systems. Provide a senior point of escalation for complex and difficult system, performance and other messaging and telecommunication systems problems. Support the growth and expansion of the IU messaging and telecommunication systems environment with regard to complex topologies advanced messaging services, measurement, performance, and system reliability. Research, evaluate, and guide implementation of new and emerging technologies within IU. Seek ways to improve the services UITS provides. Provide technical mentoring or support to other IU messaging and telecommunication systems staff. There will be periodic pager duty to handle after hours emergency system support.

Qualifications: REQUIRED: BS degree in Computer Science or other related technology area. A combination of related education and experience will be considered.

5 years related work experience including systems development in Microsoft Windows environment.

Expertise in Microsoft Windows server system administration; strong understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, and Lync with deep technical expertise in at least two of these areas. The individual must be able to work well independently, and have excellent communication and analytical skills. A strong customer orientation and enthusiasm for new technologies are also required. Experience with Windows Scripting, TCP-IP protocols, Microsoft SQL, and MCITP/MCSE and other Microsoft certifications highly desirable.
