Principal Systems Engineering - Enterprise System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)- PA4IT
Description and Responsibilities:
Works with technical engineers on exciting projects and is at the forefront of emerging technologies around Indiana University; helps guide university technical decisions around innovative business solutions; and uses cutting edge technology to inspire the future while pushing all acceptable limits. Works independently performing advanced system management, technical design, mentoring, training, analysis, programming, and other tasks related to the implementation, development, and architecture of the Enterprise System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) service at Indiana University for all schools and departments across all campuses. Leads cross-group collaborations and develops the strategy which unifies and standardizes Indiana University.s machine/device management solution around Microsoft's System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) platform.
Establishes priorities, assigns functions, and maintains policy governing the SCCM service at Indiana University; leads all change management activities necessary to ensure runtime goals match the strategy and objectives of enterprise services; provides and applies comprehensive knowledge to bug reporting and isolation, test case authoring and refinement, automation scripts; and works closely with other teams (engineering, cross functional and cross campus) to resolve highly complex and difficult problems.
Responsible for the system design, implementation, research, and troubleshooting of complex issues within the enterprise SCCM environment; establishes metrics and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity and optimum system performance metrics are obtained; oversees enterprise service upgrades, modifications, and reinstallations related to the enterprise SCCM service components; and analyzes and evaluates new capabilities and emerging technologies related to the enterprise-wide SCCM service.
Analyzes capacity data and develops capacity plans for enterprise-wide system; provides technical leadership for strategic projects and initiatives on the enterprise SCCM service roadmap; and develops security policies and standards and development of infrastructure and service disaster recovery plans.
Develops training materials necessary for successful implementation of the enterprise SCCM service in a multi-tenant environment; works to standardize and automate repeatable tasks and steps across multiple accounts while providing expert guidance and mentoring to more junior team members; and participates in information sharing and roundtable discussions which provide advice and leadership to CIC partners, k-12 school corporations, and other colleges and universities as directed.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and five years experience working on enterprise projects or
systems.
Combination of related education and experience will be considered.
Knowledge of standard client/server, networking, and internet fundamentals; understanding and demonstrated technical proficiency in Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM); and experience in managing medium to large environments. Understanding of all aspects of SCCM effectively including patch management, software distribution, and logging in detail.
Preferred: Experience working on enterprise projects or systems in and around Microsoft System Centered Configuration Manager services. Experience in other Microsoft Management technologies, including Active Directory services (AD), Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) and/or System Center Operations Manager, System Center Essentials and WSUS.
Functional knowledge across the suite of System Center products including System Center Service Manager, Orchestrator, Operations Manager, Virtual Machine Manager, Data Protection Manager, and other components of the System Center suite; Knowledge of the following: MDT (BDD), PowerShell, repackaging applications and virtualization of OS and applications.
