Senior Systems Analyst - PA3IT

Description and Responsibilities:

Collaborates with researchers to understand research workflows and researcher needs for computational capacity; provides information and support relating to the Penguin on Demand (PoD) cluster service at IU; Assists researchers getting started using the Penguin on Demand; and acts as first tier line of support for Penguin on Demand service, providing e leadership in analysis, deployment and delivery of these on demand resources.

Facilitates use of regional and national cyberinfrastructure for research and academic users, including the Penguin on Demand service and XSEDE resources; Provides information to IU researchers and research community at large about Penguin on Demand service; and promotes usage of on demand and Net+ services at IU and in the research community at large.

Provides documentation and software to on demand service users; Works with XSEDE Campus Bridging team to complete campus bridging tasks including making software available to users and generation of systems information and description; and works directly with Penguin Computing in order to migrate changes to production environments, refresh test environments from production, fix support issues and communicate user requirements.

Qualifications:
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in computer science, library and information science, informatics or a related field and four years of experience in research and academic computing including understanding of clustered systems and job submission systems, parallel file systems and data management techniques.

Understanding of national cyberinfrastructure initiatives such as TeraGrid, XSEDE, and Open Science Grid; Knowledge of Campus Bridging and Net+ concepts; and understanding of High Performance Computing concepts and conventions. Ability to work with members of the research community and provide support and documentation responsive to their needs; Ability to work with vendors providing systems as a service in order to secure support and system changes as needed; Excellent skills with managing client expectations and providing solutions; and excellent written and oral skills with the ability to write and present information about Campus Bridging and Net+ to the broader community.

Preferred: Some graduate work in related field.

Note: The Campus Bridging/Net+ Senior Systems Analyst provides information to researchers at IU about capabilities for using IU's computational and storage systems within their research workflows and to support analyses and curation of data.
