Senior Systems Analyst - PA3IT
Description and Responsibilities:
Works virtually independently providing high-level expert technical leadership and performs highly complex tasks, including project management, systems analysis, and programming related to the design, development, implementation, and support of data intensive and high performance systems. Oversees code development projects, systems administration projects, installation of hardware, and applications, performance tuning, and system maintenance. Coordinates deployment and provides administration, integration, and testing.
Ensures tight system security; prepares system services, project and service documentation; maintains vendor contact; and evaluates and tests high performance computing software. Prepares site-specific documentation for user support; provides highest level of in-house technical support on specialized and complex applications; and participates in the evaluation and technical assessment of hardware and software to ensure that IU keeps pace with emerging technologies as it pertains to storage systems. Advises departments regarding acquisition and use of high performance systems and participates in local and national projects undertaken by the UITS Research Technologies division.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in science or related technical discipline and three years of in-depth knowledge of scientific computing and a working knowledge of UNIX.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Programming experience in scientific computing and working knowledge of UNIX; ability to interact with staff and faculty researchers in extended consultations; and ability to work with a variety of people with varying levels of knowledge. Ability to work with high level of accuracy, dependability, and responsibility; ability to provide training and support to staff and attend meetings as required; and excellent communication and analytical skills. Strong customer service orientation; enthusiasm for new technologies; and ability to operate effectively in a complex and dynamic environment. Ability to function as project leader. Knowledgeable and experienced with project management tools and application development methodologies.
Preferred: Master's degree; experience with multiple computer platforms in a university environment; management experience; experience in parallel and distributed file systems; and professional experience as a computer consultant.
