Senior Telecom Design Engineer - PA3IT

Description and Responsibilities:

Directs and provides total project management of the telecommunications rewire of the IUB campus. Acts as the senior liaison between architects, engineers, outside contractors, and appropriate university partners and leaders to share information and participates in overall strategic planning of the rewire project.

Develops and designs construction plans and final documentation for this rewire project; participates in project planning efforts; supervises project teams; assigns tasks; reports progress; and ensures completion of the assigned project in the allotted time frame. Performs field investigations providing technical information as needed; implements quality controls to provide operational and management control; and ensures availability of network connectivity in a wide variety of building environments. Maintains the highest level of technical skills in area of expertise and attend seminars to stay abreast of current design and construction practices.

Qualifications:
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology related degree and five years of experience in telecommunications system design.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Valid Indiana driver's license; knowledgeable in application of all related electrical and telecommunications codes; and fluent in written and spoken English.

Preferred: Knowledge and application of all IU standards governing telecommunication and CAD standards; a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) and Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) certifications; and a Professional engineer license.

Note: There are approximately 72,000 data jacks on the IUB campus, and the project will require the complete rewire to each jack.
