Web Designer/Developer - PA3IT and PA2IT

Description and Responsibilities:

This position is posted at a PA3IT level but may be filled at a PA2IT rank depending on the candidate.s qualifications. Please see the Requirements Section below for the qualifications listed for each level.

Job Summary: Independently designs, develops, and manages web content and applications describing web offerings, presenting web application performance metrics, and describing web technologies.

Develops, implements, and documenst standards and best practices for the IU Web Community; and collaborates with partners, analysts, and teams within the central computing organization and throughout the IU system. Assists existing and potential users with use and adoption of WebTech services; researches, evaluates, and guides implementation of new and emerging technologies throughout IU; and seeks ways to improve WebTech services. Additional responsibilities include leading efforts to tune and troubleshoot functional and performance problems, and planning for system upgrades and expansion.

Qualifications:
PA3IT Requirements:

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree and three years of professional experience developing enterprise level software.

Experience with web site and application design, development, test and maintenance; and experience in project leadership and oversight. Ability to quickly learn and apply new web technologies; excellent oral and written communications skills; and a strong customer service attitude and a positive, proactive approach to problem solving. Ability to work independently as well as in a multi-role team environment; and experience in a work setting in at least three of the following subject areas: Cascade Server, PHP, JavaScript, CSS, jQuery, AJAX, Google Analytics, Google Custom Search, and WordPress.

PA2IT Requirements:

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informatics or related field and up to one year experience in systems analysis and programming.

An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Experience with systems and tools used for web design, development and administration of web-based applications; and ability to quickly learn and apply new web development technologies. Excellent oral and written communications skills; and a demonstrated strong customer service attitude and a positive, proactive approach to problem solving. Ability to work independently as well as in a multi-role team environment.
