Gerald L. Bepko Student Internship Program
2009-2010
Each year, University Information Technology Services (UITS) selects student interns to work on exciting, strategic information technology projects at IU Bloomington and IUPUI. Students from populations traditionally underrepresented in the IT field are encouraged to apply.
Internships require a minimum of 10 hours participation a week for which the intern will earn a stipend. With appropriate approvals, academic credit may be obtained.

- Cybersecurity Multimedia Intern - IUB OR IUPUI
Develop and produce creative, exciting, and trendy cybersecurity-related awareness media.
- Biomedical Applications Intern - IUPUI (Internship
filled)
Gain experience in the practical application of information technology to real-world bioinformatics problems, including gaining exposure to common
information technologies used in bioinformatics (such as relational databases and perl) and learning about the full lifecycle of software engineering
involved in building databases and processes to input, store, retrieve, and analyze biomedical data.
- Communications Office Intern (2) - IUB AND IUPUI
Assist with outreach and marketing of University Information Technology Services to students and the coordination of a UITS IT ambassador-type
program currently being formulated. Help research and develop targeted messages to student populations to promote events, resources, and services.
- Oncourse Quality Assurance Intern -
IUB OR IUPUI
Participate in the development, testing, and implementation of the Oncourse course management system and serve as a liaison to the Sakai open
source community (www.sakaiproject.org)
- Cybersecurity Intern - IUPUI
Review existing security guides and informational articles for accuracy and completeness; and, suggesting and developing timely articles covering new
issues related to cybersecurity.
- IT Community Partnership Intern - IUB OR IUPUI
Assist with the communications and community-building efforts of the Managers of IT Community Partnerships (ITCP).
- REN-ISAC Intern - IUB
Assist in the development of database systems and tools supporting the cybersecurity incident notification processes of the REN-ISAC (Research and
Education Networking Information Sharing and Analysis Center).
- Disaster Recovery Intern -
IUB
Assist in the development and use of the University's Business Continuity Plan Tool (BCPT) and support enterprise-wide program.
- Multimedia Training Development Intern - IUB
Assist with the creation and organization of multimedia content used to inform the university community about new technology developments, software
tips and tutorials, and other training and education resources such as instructor-led workshops.
- Adaptive Technology Intern
- IUPUI (Internship filled)
Learn about emerging issues of electronic text, technology for delivery of electronic text and accessible web interfaces for access of electronic
media.
- Graphic Design & User Experience Intern -
IUB
Work on a variety of projects through the UITS User Experience Group to assist in graphic/interface design with a focus on creating usable systems
and web sites.
- Multimedia Design & Production Intern -
IUB or IUPUI
Develop skills in multimedia and online development, including media design and production, graphic design, and web programming.
- Oncourse and ePortfolio Training Development Intern -
IUB
Assist with the creation and organization of training content for Oncourse CL and ePortfolio. Assist with writing, recording, producing and updating
feature demo animated movies illustrating various features of Oncourse and ePortfolio.
- Network Distribution Intern - IUPUI
(Internship filled)
Work directly with network engineers on cable and wiring installation, data switch/telephone installations, and switch/telephone configurations and
keeping records.
- Telecommunications Infrastructure Intern - IUB (Internship filled) Work directly with network engineers on cable and wiring installation, switch/telephone/access point installations, and switch/telephone/access point configurations.
