"Day of Action is an opportunity to connect volunteers with agencies that help United Way accomplish our goal of ensuring everyone has the building blocks for a better life: education for school and career, a job that provides stable earnings, and life's essentials. Day of Action provides a good experience for these generous volunteers, and creates a connection that may result in a one-day or a long-term relationship with an important cause."

Komen for the CureŽ is the world's largest advocate for breast health and has invested more than $1.9 billion in finding the cures since its beginning in 1982. Every major advancement in breast cancer research has been funded in part by Komen dollars, including the understanding that there is more than one type of breast cancer. Several research grants are currently being conducted here in Indiana at Indiana University and Purdue University. One groundbreaking study at IU Simon Cancer Center has implications for treatment of other types of cancer.
