UITS Community service programs
- Daffodil Days (IUB) - Most of us have been touched by cancer,
through personal experience, family or friends. We know what an impact it
has on our lives. Signaling nature's rebirth at the beginning of spring,
the daffodil represents hope that cancer can be cured. Bring this symbol
of hope into your home or office knowing that your purchase will fund the
American Cancer Society's research, education, and patient service
programs in our hometown area.

One simple selfless act: An average person takes time out to give a part of themselves so that someone else may live. One pint of your blood can save the lives of three people!Nearly 15 out of 20 people in the U.S. will need a blood transfusion at some point in their lifetime. Not enough people are giving blood. Only 1 in 20 people nationwide actually donate blood (about 5.5%). And it's even lower here in our area (about 4.5%). You'll feel good about it when you do it. Whether you consider it a civic duty or a higher calling, you will get a profound sense of accomplishment.

The UITS division with the largest percentage of donors wins prizes and bragging rights. Scores will be tabulated as part of the check-in process on donation day. Prizes include: MP3 Player, Red Cross mugs, water bottles, small collapsible insulated lunch boxes, t-shirts, and small photo frames.

- RACE FOR THE CURE (IUPUI)- Susan G. Komen Foundation - April 22nd-

We want you to sign up to walk or run with UITS in this year's Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. You contributions consistently have a significant impact on those in the university community, now it's time to make a difference in the community at large. Participating in this event is a great way for you, to join in the fight against breast cancer and have fun and be healthy at the same time. You can even invite your family and friends to participate with you.
This year's race is on Saturday, April 22 and the deadline for team entries is Wednesday, March 29 by mail or Saturday, April 1 online. We're looking for a large turn out this year, so please sign up to help this worthy cause!

1. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on ³Register Online for the 2006 Race². 2. Click the pink bar on the right, ³Join a Team² which will take you to a screen that will allow you to register with an existing team. 3. Type our team name, UITS, in the first box and click Search for a Team. You¹ll see the team UITS link. Join our UITS Team or donate to a UITS team member participating in WalkAmerica 2006, a nation-wide campaign, to help the fight premature birth-- the leading cause of newborn death and many lifelong disabilities.
The Bloomington event is on Sunday, May 7th (check in 12 noon, walk begins at 1:00). The start/finish line is the Bloomington H.S South stadium. Fun, exercise and FREE PICNIC LUNCH for the whole family!
Not a pledge per mile event, there is no pressure to finish or even walk at all. We turn in all donations before or at the event. You can set up your own donation website so that friends and family can donate via credit card. Your personal donation is tax deductible and NEW THIS YEAR, we have stuffed animals gifts for donations of $10.00 or more.
