Actions Taken in Response to 1997 Survey
UITS takes survey responses seriously. Some of the actions we have taken
in the last year as a result of the 1997 user survey include the following:
- Completed Phase II of the fiber network at IUPUI, installed an Asynchronous
Transfer Mode (ATM) network, and made other improvements to the campus network.
- Implemented a server architecture plan to enhance the security and reliability
of campus systems, featureing dedicated servers for e-mail, Web pages, and general
computing.
- Worked with partners such as University College and University Library to
develop a new student multimedia center in the University College building
(LY2137).
- Installed mobile computing jacks in University Library, University
College, and otehr locations to enable laptop users to connect to campus network.
- Upgraded and expanded the modem pool providing more and faster connections
to users accessing IUPUI information resources from off-campus.
