Actions Taken in Response to the 2012 Survey
We value your survey responses. Each year your judgments help guide our plans and activities. Projects undertaken in response to 2012 survey include:
- Upgraded wireless network to provide more stability. Adding new access points routinely.
- Launched a two-year pilot program to assess and measure how next-generation teaching and learning resources may suit the needs of IU students and faculty members. Over the next two years, IU will enter into a period of trials to test multiple learning software platforms and tools. Additional information may be found at next.iu.edu.
- Appropriated funding to sustain free IT Training Workshops for faculty and staff.
- Allowed development staff to actively monitor Oncourse for issues and to proactively address potential issues due to IU's investment in additional testing and monitoring tools.
- Expanded Support Center resources to extend hours of coverage to provide support for eLearning and central services questions during evenings and weekends.
- Expanded software availability, including statistical and mathematical software packages, through IUanyWare for which the University received national recognition.
- Deployed Google in the cloud search service to make “search IU” page more user friendly.
- Extended FIS and EPIC availability to 10:00 p.m. with plans to extend it even further.
- Provided tremendous new capabilities for many researchers and scholars at IU with the recently announced Big Red II and Data Capacitor II systems. In particular, the new Big Red II system will fulfill requests from users to have significant GPU-based processing capability.
- Made several improvements to the Faculty Annual Report (FAR). UITS collaborated with the IU School of Medicine to make significant improvements to the FAR applications particularly in ways that are beneficial to the specific needs of faculty working in the health fields of study.
