Hip hop it don't stop. We gonna rock the intro; kick a little flow. One time for your mind let's roll...

Hip hop is an ever changing musical genre that relies heavily on its roots. The term hip hop relates to the four areas of urban culture: MCing, DJing, break dancing and graffiti art.  Hip hop today tries to remain true to its roots (like the original New Yorkers like Grandmaster Flash, Zulu Nation and Kool Herc), and yet still evolve and bend the rules.  Evolving and merging with other musical genres such as jazz and techno, hip hop still remembers the originals. Hip hop has become very popular since the 90s and is now being tailored to a more white audience; since hip hop has become mainstream there have been many controversial issues appearing, such as race, censorship, and it's influence on today's youth.
