Why do people tell each other scary stories about murderers and Kentucky fried rats? Why do people mark their bodies with tattoos, piercings, and makeup? What does music have to do with social consciousness? Take a look around this site, and you might find some answers to your questions or maybe just some food for thought. We've had a great time researching these topics and hope you find the results interesting.
This website was created as the culmination of field research conducted by the students of Urban Folklore (a.k.a. Urban Expressions), L220 at Indiana University Bloomington, in the fall of 2001. The course was offered through the Collins Living-Learning Center
