Coal Pile Project

The coal silo project will create a structure to store coal before it is used at the Central Heating Plant to produce steam for heating the campus.  As part of the coal silo project, a structure will be built on the railroad tracks that will allow for coal to be delivered by railroad. Machinery near the railroad will lift the coal cars and dump the coal into conveyors that will take the coal to the silo.

When the coal silo is in operation the coal pile will be removed and a new steam tunnel will be constructed from the Central Heating Plant to the east across Fee Lane. Once the tunnel is complete the area will be turned into green space.
