This flyer appeared in the Hoosier Acre Mailboxes this week (Jan 26) and refers to a proposal to extend the Roger's Farm development in its northwest segment into another remnant farm area called Latimer farm. If you want to know what is going on here, go past Kmart heading east, turn right on Clarizz Blvd and were it takes a dramatic right bend and becomes Buick Cadillac Drive there on your left is an area of old-growth trees. It is in this area that they want to build another small shopping development and Clarizz would go straight south into the area of the Roger's Farm development. Hoosier acres is behind you set back from the fence. The proposal does not intrude into Hoosier Acres as such.

Hoosier Acres Neighborhood Association
Notice of Neighborhood Meeting
Tuesday, January 13, 1998, 7pm
St. Thoma's Lutheran Church, Heritage Hall
3rd St and Smith Road
AGENDA
1. Presentation of latimer Fram Development Petition by Rogers Group
2. Neighborhood-only meeting to discuss Rogers petition, develop our position, and plan for the first hearing.
The Rogers Group Petition
On December 19, Rogers Group filed a petition to develop the 43 acre Latimer Farm. The first Plan Commission hearing on the petition will probably be on January 26, 1998.
The proposed development is nearly all commercial, including a 75,000 square foot supermarket, retail, office and other buildings, plus some upper level apartments. The Latimer Woods is preserved and Clarizz extended through from Moore's Pike to 3rd St. (
see below).
No road connection is proposed at Latimer, but the Plan Dept has indicated to us that they will require a road connection to Clarizz at Homestead Ave., when Dale Conard's 2.8 acre development petition goes forward, which we expect to happen in the next 2 or 3 months.
Other activity
In June, Anne Cady, Larry Cady, Laurie Antolovic (801 Pleasant Ridge), and David Waterman met with Rogers Group at their request to hear a preliminary presenation of their Latimer Farm plan, which has not significantly changed since then.
Also in June, Matt Pierce, our city council representative, set up a meeting with Don Hasting (the new city Plan Director) for use to express our views against road connections between the neighborhood and the commercial Mall area (a followup to our discussion at the April 28, 1997 neighborhood meeting). Anne Cady, Larry Cady, Fran Moore (3421 Latimer Rd.), Matt Pierce, and David Waterman attended.
