Video Bridge Information
Indiana University faculty or staff may use the IU Video Bridge to allow three or more parties to join in an audio/video conference where participants can connect to the conference by video or telephone. Please note that the IU Video Bridge has limited resources available and is intended for users who require video for their conference needs. For audio-only conference calls, please use IU Conference Call Services or Office Communicator's conference feature.
Ad hoc Conferences:
Ad hoc conferences can be created on-the-fly by any H.323 videoconferencing system without advance scheduling, and is the recommended method for hosting videoconferences on the IU Video Bridge. To create an ad hoc conference, see:http://kb.iu.edu/data/ause.html
Video Bridge Conferences:
Video Bridge conferences are a legacy method for accessing the IU Video Bridge, in which users connect to a preconfigured conference number on the IU Video Bridge. Meeting organizers use Microsoft Outlook to place a hold on one of these preconfigured conferences by adding it as a "resource" to an Outlook meeting request (e.g. “Video Bridge 103”). Because these preconfigured video bridge conferences are open-access, any H.323 videoconferencing or telephone participant can join at any time. Therefore, to avoid interruptions when participants from adjacent meetings connect to the same Video Bridge conference, we strongly recommend that meeting organizers utilize the Ad Hoc Conference method described above.
