Definitions

Capital Projects: Construction projects with costs totaling more than $150,000.

Consultant: Typically, a registered architect or engineer or professional specialized designer who works with IU project team leaders on a defined scope of work.

Contractor: A builder or developer who works on construction projects with the Office of the Vice President for Capital Planning and Facilities.

Facilities: IU buildings, structures, connected infrastructure, land, landscape, and hardscape (sidewalks, parking lots, streets).

Master Plan: The evolving road map for university campus planning. These plans guide the physical vision of the campuses and provide a structured expansion strategy for the next 25 years.

Request for Service: An online form for IU faculty, staff, and students who need construction, renovation, or maintenance help.
