Academic Policies

Academic Policies

The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty & Academic Affairs compiles, revises and makes accessible policies and procedures that regulate academic activities on the Bloomington campus. These policies and procedures are at the core of IU Bloomington's commitment to shared governance: faculty and the administration work together to set a course for the future of the university.  Faculty rights and faculty responsibilities are enshrined in these policies, which provide a means to settle disputes and grievances in a fair and just manner.

The Academic Handbook gathers together  academic policies and procedures that govern practices throughout the eight campuses of Indiana University. The Academic Guide is the equivalent compilation specifically for the Bloomington campus, and includes administrative interpretations for policies passed by the Bloomington Faculty Council or the IU Board of Trustees.
