Welcome to the beginning of Academic Year 2013-14 and to the Office of the Vice President and General Counsel.
The beginning of any new academic year brings changes, challenges, and excitement to Indiana University. In the OVPGC, some of those changes—and excitement—arrived with the addition of three new Law Fellows to our staff. All three are recent graduates of the Indiana University Schools of Law. Lindsey Kovener earned her J.D. from the McKinney School of Law in 2013 and has a B.S. in International Management & Marketing from Butler University. Michael Mullins, whose undergraduate degree was a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Engineering from Purdue University, is also a McKinney School graduate. Sally Ronald is a “double degree” from Indiana University, with a B.A. in Slavic Languages and Literature and a J.D. from the Maurer School of Law. Sally joins Law Fellow Aimee Burkert, a Maurer School graduate who joined us in February in the Bloomington office. Lindsey and Michael will be in the Indianapolis office.
The OVPGC created the Law Fellow Program purposefully and thoughtfully to provide valuable research and writing support for our permanent professional staff, development opportunities for attorneys who may be interested in careers in higher education, and immediate and meaningful employment opportunities for new graduates from both of Indiana University’s Schools of Law.
At our annual retreat in July, OVPGC identified “Enhancing Client Satisfaction” as our goal for 2013-14. The addition of the Law Fellows will advance that goal by making our permanent attorneys more available to assist our internal clients. We have also designated our two Senior Associate General Counsels, Tom Gannon and Kip Drew, to serve as the primary liaison to our campuses as noted below:
- IUPUI, IUSB, IUK, IPFW: Tom Gannon: (317) 274-5446, firstname.lastname@example.org
- IUB, IUN, IUE, IUS, IUPUC: Kip Drew: (812) 855-0009, email@example.com
In order to ensure the preeminence of Indiana University, the Office of the Vice President and General Counsel (OVPGC) advises, assists, counsels, defends, and solves problems to protect and advance IU and its mission.
