Kip joined the General Counsel's office in 1994 as an Associate General Counsel. Her primary areas of concentration are construction law, First Amendment, FERPA issues, and complex contracts. Kip also serves as the General Counsel liason for the following campuses: IU Bloomington, IU Northwest, IU East, and IU Southeast.
Before joining the VPGC staff, Kip was an associate in the environmental law department at the Indianapolis office of Barnes & Thornburg. She also served as a law clerk to The Honorable Roger O. DeBruler of the Indiana Supreme Court. Prior to entering law school, Kip was a secondary school English teacher.
Kip earned a B.A. in English, cum laude and with departmental honors, from Hanover College. She completed her J.D. cum laude at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. In 2010, Kip was a semi-finalist to fill the vacancy on the Indiana Supreme Court resulting from the retirement of The Honorable Theodore Boehm.
