Groth named interim vice provost at IU Bloomington
Dennis Groth has been named interim vice provost for undergraduate education at Indiana University Bloomington. He is an associate professor in the School of Informatics and Computing and has served as associate vice provost for undergraduate education since 2009. Provost and Executive Vice President Lauren Robel announced the appointment today.

Sloan Foundation grant supports 'STIM' teaching innovations at IU Bloomington
The Bay View Alliance, a network comprising Indiana University Bloomington and six other leading North American research universities, has earned a four-year, $803,942 grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation to support research on leadership practices that encourage the widespread adoption of effective teaching methods in the sciences.
Undergraduate fine art award deadline is Nov. 15 at IU Bloomington
The Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education is issuing a call to undergraduate students to submit their artwork created during the 2012 calendar year at IU Bloomington. A faculty jury will judge the works, and purchase awards will be given to first-, second- and third-place entries in the amounts of $1,000, $500 and $250, respectively.
Learning center ribbon-cutting celebrates new home for teaching excellence at IU

IU receives $1 million endowment to fund Osher Reentry Scholarships for adult students
The Bernard Osher Foundation has awarded Indiana University Bloomington a $1 million endowment and a $50,000 grant to support the Osher Reentry Scholarship program for adult students who are completing baccalaureate degrees. The endowment provides a more permanent funding source for a program that the Osher Foundation has supported with annual grants since 2009.
IU named 'best buy' by leading college guide
Indiana University has been named a ″best buy″ school by the 2013 edition of ″Fiske Guide to Colleges.″ IU was one of only 20 public universities from the U.S., U.K. and Canada to receive the ″best buy″ designation from Fiske and one of three Big Ten institutions named to the list along with the University of Iowa and University of Wisconsin-Madison. This year's guide also features 21 private universities.
IU Bloomington faculty selected for CIC Academic Leadership Program
Four Indiana University Bloomington faculty members have been selected to take part in the Academic Leadership Program, an intensive experience that develops the leadership and managerial skills of faculty who have demonstrated exceptional ability and academic promise. The program is sponsored by the Committee on Institutional Cooperation, made up of the 12 Big Ten universities and the University of Chicago.
