CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

THE OVPUE FINE ART AWARD

The Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education at Indiana University-Bloomington was founded in January 2009. OVPUE supports a broad range of activities that promote innovation and enrichment in the curriculum and leads campus-wide programs and initiatives in support of outstanding academic experiences for all undergraduates. The OVPUE Fine Art Award promotes creative activity on campus and seeks to recognize and reward artistic excellence, as well as to recognize the achievements of IUB undergraduates through this competition and the ongoing exhibition of work resulting from it.

Prize description:

Purchase awards will be made for the top three entries, one for $1000, one for $500, one for $250. Purchase works will be displayed in the IUB Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education.

Winners will be featured on the OVPUE website.

Adjudicated by: The Fellowships Committee of the School of Fine Arts

Eligibility:

Applicants must be currently pursuing a BFA, a BA or BS degree at IUB.

Works may be in 2-D or 3-D media.

All work submitted with each entry must have been completed

  • during the 2009 calendar year
  • while on the IUB campus

Time line:

Deadline for completed applications: All application materials must be received in the office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, Maxwell 100, by 5:00 pm on November 13, 2009.

Notification of acceptance or award will be sent by 30 November, and recipients will be honored at a reception in early December.

Awarded work must be delivered to the IUB Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education by February 1, 2010.




Required application materials:

1.    A completed entry form (available online at http://www.indiana.edu/~vpue/ , from the Fine Arts office (room 123) or from Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, (Maxwell 100).

2.    Images of artwork

  • A CD of images of no more than five individual pieces, with up to five additional detail views, for a maximum of ten images.

  • These images should be numbered to correspond to the image inventory on the Entry Form and placed in an electronic folder titled with the student's name.

  • The folder should be burned to a CD also labeled with the student's name.

  • Image size should not exceed 1500 pixels at its broadest dimension (and should not be less than 800 pixels.)

  • Images should not be put into any presentation program.

  • For Installation, Video and Digital Work, students may submit a DVD in place of a CD.
